The story is great, but the translation is terrible! So boring!

I can not explain this book's experience , ❤️‍????

පොත හොඳයි. පරිවර්තනය බෝරිංග්. මිසරි, ඇට ගැහියන් දෙකම කියවලයි මේක කියවන්න ගත්තෙ. මම හිතන්නෙ නෑ ස්ටීවන් කින්ග් ගෙ පොතක් මෙච්චර බෝරිංග් ඇති කියලා.

So, as I said, this translation is not that good. Mr. Chandana Gunasekara is trying to do something impressive in this book but fails soon after he meets the real Stephen King who is hiding midway through the book. Don't get me wrong, the translation is good; not bad. but, he had not fully understood the way Mr. Stephen King fabulizes his readers. Stephen King is widely read by the public because he writes very creatively, not in a barely understandable manner. After reading his translation, I felt that the descriptions King uses are boring. But, no. read his original books, King amazes you. Even though Mr. Chandana Gunasekara's language is somewhat applicable to King's language at some points, the dialogues nearly made me go, " Hey, these dialogues are artificial, not natural ! and somewhat embarrassing." (He had used some dialouges that are natural; but, soon after, the same characters who used natural dialogues would speak like, 'oba mehi sidhu karannea kumakdha?.' I'm not saying using this language is bad, but it's mixed with normal dialogues and artificial dialouges such as these.) Overall, if I were asked to rate this translation, I would rate it 5.5 out of 10. I am not trying to discourage him. He is trying to do a great job by translating books that should have been translated years ago. He is neither a bad translator nor a bad writer; but he couldn't catch the sheer brilliance that, King himself uses. The phrases King use are somewhat difficult to understand, but, Mr. Dileepa Jayakody had a far better understanding of King's language [I know, he translated his 'Richard Bachman' (Bachman is a pseudonym King used to publish some of his books because he signed a-book-a-year contract) "Thinner", but Bachman and King use very similar styles, that's why many of his avid readers found out about it even before King revealed it]. Mr. Chandana Gunasekara's language style he uses when he translates King is somewhat similar to William Golding, the author of a brilliant piece of literature, "The Lord of The Flies." On a separate note, that book's (The Lord of The Flies) language style is harder to understand, even though it is a kid's book. Hey! at least the book's cover and it's quality is nice.
