Kala Bhushana R. S. Karunaratne JP is a 

senior journalist who works as a Senior Sub 

Editor of Ceylon Today published by Ceylon 

Newspapers (Private) Limited. He started 

his journalism career as a Sub Editor of The 

Island and later served as the Features Editor 

and Associate Editor of the Sunday Observer. 

He also served the Daily Mirror as its Chief 

Sub Editor. 

Karunaratne holds a Bachelor's Special 

Degree in Mass Communication conferred 

by the University of Kelaniya and a 

Diploma in Psychology. He served as a Visiting Lecturer 

in Journalism at the same university. 

Thereafter he served as a Visiting Lecturer 

in English at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, 

London Business School and the Institute 

of Bankers of Sri Lanka. At present he serves as a 

Visiting Lecturer in Journalism at the 

Sri Lanka Foundation Institute, Colombo 7. 

He has a passion for English literature, 

Western Classical Culture, 

Philosophy and Psychology.
